Goldings Hill, Loughton, c1905 is a recent addition to this part of Loughton and dates from 1774.
It was built to reduce the sharp angle of the hill which was putting a strain on horses carrying heavy loads on the old 'lower' road (seen on the right) that still runs parallel today.
